Slemon Park is located 2 miles from the City of Summerside and 12 miles from the Confederation Bridge. Presently Slemon Park is home to some of the world's finest companies in aviation, aerospace, diversified manufacturing, commercial and light industries. Slemon Park Corporation owns and operates the Summerside Airport, Slemon Park Hotel & Conference Centre, Lady Slipper Restaurant & Lounge and a residential housing operation.
The History of Slemon Park originates back to 1940, with the decision to open a base in Prince Edward Island to support the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. The base was named R.C.A.F. Station Summerside and in 1941 became a permanent installation and home to the Air Navigational School, a training facility for NATO navigators.
Through much growth and then eventually the base closure in 1991, the Slemon Park Corporation was birthed in 1991 as a private company dedicated to creating location solutions for regional, national and international business. The corporation's mandate is to enhance economic development in Prince County and Prince Edward Island. The Corporation inherited 1500 acres of property and other assets from the former CFB Base Summerside, which closed in 1989. An effective collaboration between local, provincial and federal governments allowed the creation of Slemon Park Corporation.
Slemon Park Hotel & Conference Centre is the title sponsor of the 2006 P.E.I. Bike Fest. They are offering a great deal on two nights accommodations during peak season so be sure to check it out!
